About HSBC



HSBC is a leader in supporting Hong Kong youth prepare for their future through scholarship schemes and skills development programmes. HSBC aims to offer some of Hong Kong’s most talented students life-changing opportunities to realise their dreams.

In 1965, HSBC launched Hong Kong’s first social work scholarship scheme to support the city’s budding social work profession. In the 1990s, the HSBC Overseas Scholarship Scheme was launched to support the internationalisation of Hong Kong universities. In 2011, HSBC, together with the Innovation and Technology Commission and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, introduced the Innovation and Technology Scholarship to support Hong Kong’s transition to an innovation hub. Then in 2021, HSBC set up Hong Kong’s first scholarship to encourage local students to undertake a career path in the Greater Bay Area. Some 6,000 students have received a scholarship award from HSBC and have become HSBC Scholars since 1965.

In order to deepen support for all the HSBC Scholars and past project participants, HSBC launched the Hub for the Future. The Hub will be a multi-disciplinary, cross-generational talent hub for past, current, and future recipients of HSBC Scholarships as well as past participants of HSBC’s flagship Future Skills projects since 1965. These flagship projects include the HSBC/HKU Hong Kong Business Case Competition, The International Blockchain Olympiad – Hong Kong Chapter, and the HSBC Future Skills Development Project.
